Years ago, as my father’s dementia advanced, I watched my mother struggle daily, doing everything she could to care for him on her own. I remember urging her to get in-home support, but she was so hesitant, saying, “I don’t want strangers in my house.” Eventually, I moved them closer to me and found a wonderful memory care home for my father, but getting there was an emotional journey filled with tough choices and moments of doubt.
